Open
Letter to all Waste Professionals:
What has John Gibbins been doing since
leaving the big yella fella, at the end of June 2006?
Ground Engaging Tools are what our new
company is all about. Initially we
addressed those issues and problems you have relating to landfill
compactor teeth e.g.:
Little traction, unacceptable
wearlife, welding cost & expense, can’t remove pins & springs, teeth
falling off, adaptors worn out prematurely, big rigs & maintenance specialist
crews essential, requiring extensive expensive downtime, why spare wheels &
you know the list goes on and on. The answers you receive from the factory
are ho hum…..like we’re working on it; how many times I’ve
heard…..we’re on our 5th revision of that + tooth design
& so on. Who has been the real loser
over many, many years?
I’ve listened to these
complaints over 20 years while working for others who could not or did not
address your problems. gr8g.e.t.’s
simple solution has been developed since the late 1990’s using Computer Modeling
& Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Bench cycling & abuse to destruction tests, plus in field trialing of
our Landfill Compactor Teeth in harsh environments have been successfully
completed. gr8g.e.t. products are
available in Australia & New Zealand at a realistic price, with a fair,
achievable, no games warranty.
Gone is the cutting & welding
nightmare with our new unique “simple” International patent applied
and pending spring and retaining system. Added to this is personal customer
service through a local distribution network in Australia and New Zealand ECH
(Equipment Component Holdings) and their dealers.
Now
the US (N.A.) operation:
That will be headed up by me, plus a
new team which will be announced into the coming New Year. These distributor/dealers are people you
probably know and they are good……really good. There is total commitment from all to
serving you and your organization and we understand your industry and
needs. You will really see our folk
when you need to and we intend to be the solution people for you and your
taxpayers.
On
a new machine ask for (demand)
the manufacturer’s bare drum option. Call us & we will help, plus look
after the rest. Then you start
saving money. Ask for our costing
analysis spreadsheet!
Fitting
gr8g.e.t. cleats to your existing landfill compactor requires the removal of the welded/pinned
type you currently have, cleaning up, marking out the drums with the provided template,
then welding on the complete new gr8g.e.t. assemblies. When welding has cooled one fits rubber plugs
which preclude dirt filling the cavity where the spring sits (< 1 minute
each tooth). We use variable tooth numbers but in general 45 teeth per wheel on
a 50 tonne 836 size and 35 on a 36 tonne 826 size machine and don’t
subscribe to the (manufacturers cost
saving) theory; fewer teeth keep the drum clean.
At
replacement time changeout is achieved safely
by removing the spring & worn tooth with a simple, easy to use, inexpensive
tool and air impact wrench. This
tool removes the spring & lifts the tooth in one simple non laborious operation. The new tooth & spring are installed
using the same removal tools onto the drum adaptor (which is designed to last
through multiple changes). Then two
rubber plugs per tooth are fitted.
This
equates to about 15 hours for the largest machine or about 5 minutes per
tooth. Compare this with > 1
hour per tooth for cutting & welding or trying to remove pins (which
sometimes takes even longer). Don’t forget gr8g.e.t. teeth are
harder, last longer & cost less for
the cap & spring than most weld-on teeth.
We
have stepped up to the plate to give you better traction & compaction plus
improve your (your company & communities) bottom line, so please allow us that opportunity.
Own
or want to own a Terex or Bomag?
Then talk with us as we can help!
Wire/material
wrap on axles? We have a simple inexpensive non welded retro-fit
or new option!
Feel
free to contact us for assistance with any questions & additional
information, including dealer contacts.
Yours
truly,

John GIBBINS
